The PM SVANidhi program has lifted hundreds of street vendors in the Betul district through tiered microloans. Beneficiaries receive an initial 10,000 rupees interest-free, then access 20,000 rupees after repayment, with final loans reaching 50,000 rupees for expansion. More than 100 vendors operate businesses under the initiative, from cobblers to fruit juice sellers.
The government extended the scheme through March 2030 with 7,332 crore rupees allocated. Officials project 11.5 million total beneficiaries, with 5 million new participants joining existing recipients. Vendors credit the program with enabling business launches and growth across urban and rural markets. The restructured policy broadens eligibility to reach marginalized entrepreneurs nationwide.
