MTN Nigeria plots fibre surge, targets eight million homes

MTN Nigeria is turning up the heat with a massive plan to lace the nation with fiber by 2028. The target: eight million homes wired and ready for high-speed internet. It’s the company’s latest move to push broadband expansion and pull every corner of Nigeria into the digital age.

This rollout backs the government’s broadband plan and digital push, aiming to flood homes, offices, and small businesses with fast, stable connections. MTN says the surge in population and nonstop city growth have turned high-speed access from luxury to necessity.

To get there, MTN is locking arms with state officials, infrastructure giants, and local crews. The company vows to beat down fiber-killers like vandalism and construction damage.

MTN credits the Nigerian Communications Commission for protecting telecom gear as national property and greasing policy wheels. The company swears it’s not slowing down until Nigeria’s online future is wide open.
