CCP Games announced that the EVE Online: Catalyst expansion will launch on Nov. 18, introducing a new mining system centered on Prismaticite extraction from unstable Hyperspace Fractures. The volatile resource reprocesses into random minerals, but players can select specific base minerals through Phase Anchor technology that stabilizes fractured asteroids for coordinated operations.
The expansion adds two vessels: the Pioneer Mining Destroyer for Alpha clone pilots, and the Odysseus Exploration Command Ship designed for extended deep-space missions. Mining cycles received speed improvements, and both 2D and 3D maps feature enhanced ore availability indicators with customizable scales for improved navigation.
Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason said mining serves as the foundation of all player activity, while Executive Producer Snorri Árnason noted that valuable resources attract rival players who transform mining sites into contested zones. The update includes PLEX transaction logs for economic transparency and balance adjustments for Empire carriers.
