Microsoft Gaming Copilot trains on your gameplay by default

Microsoft automatically enables data collection through Gaming Copilot on Windows 11 computers to train artificial intelligence models. The feature captures screenshots and gameplay footage by default unless users manually disable the setting. ResetEra users discovered the practice through network traffic analysis.

The Gaming Copilot menu contains options for text-based model training, voice conversation recording, and personalization data collection. Users can deactivate these features by accessing Game Bar settings and navigating to Privacy Settings in the bottom left corner. Voice conversation training remains disabled by default.

Microsoft raised Xbox Series console prices twice in 2025 and increased development kit costs for game creators. The company boosted Game Pass subscriptions by 50 percent while eliminating discount programs and rewards. Microsoft terminated more than 9,000 positions to redirect resources toward artificial intelligence development.
