Ubisoft Massive offers layoffs amid Snowdrop Engine focus

Ubisoft Massive Entertainment announced a voluntary career transition program following internal restructuring at the Swedish studio. The company will realign teams and resources to concentrate on The Division franchise and core technologies such as the Snowdrop Engine and Ubisoft Connect platform. Employees who qualify for the program can depart with financial compensation and career support services.

The studio developed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws, which failed to meet Ubisoft's commercial expectations despite technical achievements. Massive Entertainment confirmed continued development on The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and The Division 3. The announcement follows workforce reductions at Ubisoft RedLynx, where up to 60 positions face elimination, and the departure of Assassin's Creed franchise leader Marc-Alexis Cote.
