Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has transferred another $250,000 to Highlanders Football Club as part of his $1 million commitment to the Bulawayo team. The club received the funds through curator Jabulani Nkomo and placed them in a trust account for the 2025 season. Officials allocated the money to player welfare, match bonuses, travel costs and facility improvements at the Clubhouse grounds.
Chairman Kenneth Mhlophe said the donation has boosted team morale ahead of their Chibuku Super Cup semifinal against Dynamos. The club plans to use portions of the funding to upgrade training pitches and construct a perimeter wall. Highlanders face pressure to secure silverware as they approach their centenary celebration next year, all while managing concerns about relegation in the league.
