Samsung Galaxy XR priced at $1,800, undercuts Vision Pro

Samsung launched its Galaxy XR headset on Thursday at $1,800, undercutting Apple's $3,499 M5 Vision Pro by nearly half. The device runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 processor with 16 gigabytes of memory and 256 gigabytes of storage. Micro-OLED displays deliver nearly 8K resolution at 3,552 by 3,840 pixels with refresh rates reaching 90 hertz and a 109-degree horizontal field of view.

Google Gemini artificial intelligence allows users to request information about videos, navigate with Maps, or analyze objects within a circular field selection. The 545-gram headset features iris recognition, Dolby Atmos audio, and supports HDR10 video playback at 8K resolution and 60 frames per second. Battery life spans two hours for general use and 2.5 hours for video viewing, shorter than the Vision Pro's three-hour rating.
