Women in the JEEViKA self-help program across Bagaha have backed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ahead of the Bihar assembly polls. Members said they reject opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav's campaign pledge to make them permanent government workers earning 30,000 rupees monthly. The women cited safety improvements and financial support under Kumar's administration as reasons for their loyalty.
Program participants received 10,000 rupees in startup funds and access to ration supplies through state welfare initiatives. Multiple members expressed fear that a return to lawlessness could occur if the opposition takes power. The women credited both Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for employment opportunities and electricity subsidies that strengthened their economic independence.
Yadav's promises lack credibility among the group because he has not delivered tangible benefits while out of office. Long-time members recall previous administrations that failed to fulfill their campaign commitments. The self-help network has provided participants with earning power through small business loans and cooperative ventures, thereby improving household finances across the district.
