Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the government has taken early steps to prepare for the Northeast Monsoon, which is expected to be milder this year. He emphasized the importance of coordination between agencies to protect lives, property, and documents during any disasters. Although the monsoon will affect parts of ASEAN, including Peninsular Malaysia and parts of Sarawak and Sabah, efforts are underway to ensure readiness. Ahmad Zahid, who also chairs the Central Disaster Management Committee, inspected preparations in Temerloh, Pahang. The government has allocated RM2.2 billion to address flood issues, with a focus on effective implementation and community cooperation. He urged residents in high-risk areas to work with disaster agencies to support relief efforts.
