AMD desktop processors with Zen 5 architecture moved closer to launch after a BIOS update appeared with microcode and firmware linked to Krackan Point chips from the Ryzen AI 300 mobile series. The AGESA ComboAM5PI 1.2.7.0 update contains CPU microcode 00B60Fxx and SMU version 101.55.0 that support testing of desktop variants ahead of a potential fourth-quarter 2025 release.
The processors combine eight Zen 5 cores with RDNA 3.5 graphics and an artificial intelligence accelerator for compact computers. AMD has not announced branding for the chips, but may adopt Ryzen 9000G, Ryzen 10000G, or Ryzen AI 300 naming to replace current Ryzen 8000G models based on Zen 4 designs.
Motherboard manufacturers typically receive firmware updates months before processor launches to prepare compatibility. The AM5 platform supports DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 connectivity for the new chips.
