NVIDIA’s CoWoS orders at TSMC have reached record levels, according to UBS, fueled by strong demand for current Blackwell AI chips and upcoming Rubin products. UBS notes that NVIDIA expects demand for 678,000 CoWoS wafers in 2026, a 40 percent increase from this year, highlighting continued growth in AI chip orders. This surge is driven by the rapid adoption of next-generation architectures, with Blackwell and Blackwell Ultra products forecast to see 30 percent quarter-over-quarter shipment growth, alongside initial volumes for Rubin.
The new Rubin CPX platform, focused on inference workloads, is also set to boost CoWoS orders at TSMC due to its packaging requirements. UBS projects NVIDIA’s GPU production to reach 7.4 million units in 2026, representing a notable year-over-year increase. Demand for AI hardware remains strong, leaving TSMC struggling to keep pace with the surge in semiconductor and advanced packaging orders from major technology firms. Blackwell Ultra solutions remain NVIDIA’s main offering, while Rubin is expected to debut in early 2026, bringing even more computing power to large-scale customers.
